About Us

What is NJROTC?

The Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps is a leadership based program which teaches cadets about citizenship and patriotism. Throughout the program, cadets participate in various activities including community service, academic, athletic, drill and orienteering competitions, field meets, educational field trips, visits to naval or other activities, marksmanship sports training, physical training and much more.

Monterey High School NJROTC

The NJROTC program at Monterey High School is a youth education program sponsored by the Navy to bring out the best in every student. It is available for students in grades 9 through 12. Only a select few schools are fortunate enough to have such a program and we are proud to be one of them.  We are a unit that is dedicated to giving cadets the tools they need in order to excel in life. Our mission is to prepare the youth of today for the challenges of tomorrow by teaching them how to effectively work as a team, as well as the leadership and management skills needed for success.

Our NJROTC unit has been recognized for its excellence in 2012  by being designated as Area Thirteen's "Most Improved Unit." Moreover, our Unit has been recognized as the "6th Most Improved Unit in the Nation," by the Navy League. The unit has also received the "Bravo Zulu Award" in 2018. This distinction is a reflection of the hard work of the cadets, our Naval Science instructors, the cadets' parents, and all the tax-payers in the City of Monterey. We would not be here without you.
